TEXT: Calochortus tolmiei (Two images of same plant) Calochortus are bulbous plants native to western North America from British Columbia to southern Mexico and Guatemala. Calochortus tolmiei is a small species (height 5-30cm) which grows from Seattle, Washington south-west to northern California. (The plant in the images was photographed at the southern end of Lake Elmore, California in late June 1995). C. tolmiei has not been widely grown to date (AGS Encyclopaedia 1993).
