| TEXT: Cyathodes parvifolia (Epacridaceae) Mountain
berry It is a common Tasmanian endemic, small to medium shrub of coniferous,
deciduous alpine heaths. The berries are usually red as in this form but
there are also pink and white forms. Rare in cultivation on account of
commonality in nature, moderate difficulty of propagation and slowness
of growth in the garden. Propagation is by firm cuttings and by seed which
can take 3 years. The specimen here was photographed 25/12/98 Near Cradle
Mountain. |
