It is a Townsendia found by Ev Whittemore in the Pryor Mtns, Montana
some 8-9 years ago. I have been trying to get it identified for a long
time. I just call it Townsendia sp. However, John Grimshaw has been doing
his best here and after investigation at Kew with samples of bud, leaf
etc he is positive that it is Townsendia spathulata. The trouble is that
all the T. spathulata over here and possibly in the US has been grown from
RMRP seed when Gwen owned it. The plants grown from that seed are completely
different. Bill King of Salt Lake City has suggested that I send the same
photo to Bob Nold as he is quite well up on Townsendia identification.
This is a photo of one of my plants. |
