The compilation of this page would not have been possible without the help, knowledge and friendship of a number of people who, like me, share the passion for the flora of Kentucky. My travels throughout the Commonwealth in search of wildflowers has been enhanced by their companionship, humour, patience and unselfish giving of their valuable time. I am indebted to my wife Sherba for her tolerance, support and unstinting perseverance.....had we never met, I would not have known what a beautiful part of the USA this is.  To Nick Holmes (Sherba's son and my dear step-son) who never tires of finding me new places of interest. To Linda Fugate-Blumer our very dear friend, artist and wildflower photographer extraordinaire who gives so freely of her time whenever we are in Kentucky and always finds something new for us to photograph. To Professor Jim Gentry, Nick's college mentor and botanist who helped to identify many of the plants and who took us into the Knobs where the flora is something quite special. To Rick and Robyn Lee for allowing us onto their private acreage to photograph the wildflowers and for giving us our first "in the wild" sighting of the yellow lady's slipper and the showy orchis. To all of them, my gratitude and acknowledgement that I could not have done this without them.
